In Conversation with the Rt. Hon. Justin Trudeau

On May 9, 2019, the Jake’s House team attended “Me, You and Justin Trudeau: Raising the Flag in the Heart of TO.” Hosted at the Design Exchange, the event welcomed Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to the stage for an inspiring Q&A session–after which we had the honour of meeting him.

Among the many important topics he addressed, Justin Trudeau spoke about two that resonated deeply with our charity: the need to support the disadvantaged segments of our society and the value of diversity.

“…we learned that differences and diversity can actually be an incredible source of not only resilience for our communities but also of solutions for business, economic growth, innovation, invention, creativity, invention.” – Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada

We could not agree more. Through personalized mentoring within both workplace and social settings and through a variety of inclusive events and outings, Jake’s House presents families living with autism with meaningful ways to connect with the greater community. Having seen remarkable results when this sort of integration and engagement happens, we remain dedicated to offering support that helps these families feel understood, feel welcomed, and believe greater potential is possible for them.

“Whether it’s one-on-one mentoring, raising awareness or building community support, Jake’s House makes a difference every single day for families affected by ASD. You’re a force for change, a voice for hope and a testament to the power of community. Our government is proud to support you.” – Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, greeting our guests at our World Autism Awareness Day 2019 event
