Torkin Manes LLP Donates Toronto Raptors Tickets to Autism Community

Thanks to a generous donation from Torkin Manes LLP, Jake’s House was able to host an exciting draw, giving away two tickets to the November 6th Toronto Raptors game vs. the Sacremento Kings, to a mother and son in the autism community!

Afterwards, the family shared how much going to a game meant to them and we’re thrilled to see how much they enjoyed the occasion. Their son is a huge Raptors fan – he’s been watching the team on TV and online ever since he can remember. And although they were excited to take advantage of the opportunity to watch the game live at Scotiabank arena, a couple of years ago, this may not have been possible.

The family expressed: “[there have been] different challenges with raising our little angel since we started the journey. From toilet training, making eye contact, tolerating the noise of hair dryers/vacuums, hair cutting or staying [focused] on topics, these seemingly easy tasks all require additional coaching and efforts…However, he has worked very hard and has come a long way – we are very proud of him. I am also thankful of how this has opened my eyes to life and appreciate the differences!”

A child living with autism might feel overwhelmed at a live event like a Raptors game – being exposed to a high amount of sounds and other stimulation. However, combined with other autism treatments, live events can also help improve a child’s tolerance and increase the amounts of activities that they’re able to enjoy in the long-run.

Thank you to Torkin Manes LLP for donating these great seats and an unforgettable experience to families in the autism community. Autism services require a considerable amount of time and financial resources, and many families don’t get the opportunity to enjoy such events. Donations like these make an incredible difference in families’ lives.
