Diversity & Inclusion Outlook 2019

Driven to promote diversity and inclusion, the Jake’s House team attended an event that gathered leaders from Canada’s Big Five Banks for a panel discussion on the outlook of diversity within their institutions. Hosted by our partners at the Economic Club of Canada, this event took place at the Downtown Marriott on February 20, 2019.

Moderated by Mona Ghiami, Chief Inclusion Officer, PwC, this conversation was composed of the following panelists: Permpreet Sidhu, Vice President, Performance and Inclusion, Scotiabank; Rajini Nagendran, Chief Inclusion Officer, BMO; Brent Chamberlain, Senior Director, Inclusion & Diversity, CIBC; Kelly Pereira Senior Vice President, Human Resources Royal Bank of Canada; and Kelley Cornish, Global Head of Diversity & Inclusion, TD Bank Group.

We commend these leaders for not only recognizing the value of diversity and inclusion, but for realizing their responsibility and for making these priorities in their strategies over the next year. We hope their action plans ensure their institutions reflect as closely as possible the current Canadian reality, from employees to customers.

As collaboration is something we greatly value at Jake’s House, we were also pleased to learn that the banks are working together and with others toward the common goal of creating more inclusive environments. We firmly believe that when a community, composed of unique individuals, can come together and collaborate, a culture of understanding and support is created and greater potential can be both imagined and realized. We look forward to seeing the banks engage in deeper community collaborations this year.
