Jake’s House Skills Development Training Program

Program Overview

Our program has been thoughtfully designed to prepare individuals with the skillsets required to succeed in transitioning into the job market.

The Jake’s House team of employment experts will provide 4 weeks (80 hours) of practical training in foundational life skills such as financial management, communication and employment preparation.

Our Skills Development Training Program will prepare and guide participants through a key transitional life period, supporting their social, behavioural, and skill development as they progress into meaningful and rewarding employment.

Construction Craft Worker Pre-Apprenticeship Program

Program Overview

Our Pre-Apprenticeship Training Program is focused on providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment that meets the needs of individuals with autism and developmental disabilities.

This 8-week program includes a comprehensive curriculum that covers the essential skills and knowledge required to become a successful Construction Craft Worker.

This includes both practical and theoretical health & safety awareness, certifications for operating industrial equipment, standard first aid and CPR, fire safety training, and more.

Created to equip individuals with autism and/or developmental disabilities with the tools needed to find meaningful employment, the team at Jake’s House had the privilege of rolling out its first two Employment Expos – Ottawa on April 17th and London on April 28th, 2023.
Peel Regional Police and Community Partners Launch Autism Strategy
On May 2nd, 2023 Peel Regional Police, in collaboration with Jake’s House and other autism community partners, announced the launch of a strategy to strengthen how police can best serve the autistic community in Peel.
